Top Tips For Eating Well During Lockdown

We all know that it’s important to eat well for our physical and mental health. However, when we’re in stressful situations (like another national lockdown) it can be easy to reach for comfort foods rather than sticking to a healthy eating plan.

The British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) recently offered some advice on how we can keep our healthy eating on track during the current lockdown and beyond.

One of the top tips is to plan ahead, with the organisation noting that this doesn’t mean you need to have a full weekly meal plan, but that simply thinking about what you’ll be cooking over the next couple of days can help minimise the stress around deciding what to eat for each meal.

The organisation also noted that it’s important to make it as easy as possible for you to put together healthy meals. “There’s nothing wrong with using some ready-made foods to help you put together quick, healthy meals,” the BNF stated.

One option could be to sign up for meal prep delivery in the UK to ensure you have everything you need to make healthy and delicious meals throughout the week.

Another top tip from the BNF when it comes to eating healthily during lockdown is to get into a regular mealtime routine and stick to it. Making sure that you’re eating at roughly the same time each day is not only good for introducing some normality back into a disrupted life, but can also reduce the likelihood that you’ll reach for the snacks.

January is often a good time to think about adopting new habits, whether around food or otherwise.

Veganuary, where people go vegan for a month, has been growing in popularity in recent years for instance, with the Guardian recently revealing that the campaign expects more people than ever to give it a go in 2021, in part due to lockdown, environmental and health concerns.
